Dirty Jobs

Our family loves the show, Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe.  What do kids love more than things that are funny and disgusting?!  What do parents like more than TV shows for their children that are informative (and that the parents can actually enjoy watching as well.)

Lately Sylvia especially loves it.  Yesterday she came into our room and informed us that she's not afraid to do a dirty job and asked what kind of dirty job we need done.  I had her throw away a dirty diaper and told her that I didn't know if she could do a job that was that dirty.  She fearlessly did it and came back asking for more.  I told her that there were syrupy breakfast dishes on the table (it was almost dinnertime, DON'T JUDGE ME!) that she could take to the kitchen counter.  Five or ten minutes later we found out that she went around to each plate squished her hands into the syrup then wiped them all over her clothes, I am sure so that she could look as fun as Mike Rowe.  She got the dirty part but missed the JOB part of the whole thing.

Listen to Your Mama

This morning our Chinese teacher came over and gave us an assignment to make our own puppets and have "them" talk to each other, using a certain dialog that she gave us to memorize.  Just for fun, she showed us this rap song.  I guess Jay Chou (pronounced Chew) is very famous in China.  In this song, he is giving a little boy great advice, "Listen to your mama."  Even though I don't understand the words, I think it is very cute and touching and great that this big celebrity is singing about something nice.  (I love that kid's room by the way.)

A Stitch AND Time

I am always so proud of myself when I get out craft projects for my kids because I really don't enjoy it...especially sewing.  Yesterday morning I was inspired by Life in a Pink House's post with her cute daughters stitching.  My girls had fun drawing a picture on some cloth, then picking out colored thread and stitching.  Luke is in the background probably drawing another line man maze.

Isabel

We have started reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle as our read a loud book.  I love reading books from my childhood to my children.  (Especially since most of them I can't remember so well.)
